Burlesque, as a performance form, is a mix of elegance, power, and extravagance. In Naughty & Nice Burlesque, Estonia Burlesque delivers that power and magic through a Christmas lens.
At the beginning of the show, the host, Miss Chrissy Kiss, introduces herself and explains the dynamic of the night. From the very first moment, the Christmas spirit is present through her long, sparkly red dress. During this opening, there are moments of crowd work that help warm up the atmosphere. In addition, the host announces that the audience will see the work of five different burlesque performers throughout the evening.
The first performer, Titi de Sweetie, appears with delicate and tender movements that evoke the feeling of snow. A calm winter wind is suggested through the play of white silk. Beneath the layers, the performer slowly reveals herself, creating the sensation of unwrapping a piece of candy.
With a reorganization of the space, Foxy Suzy takes the stage in a full costume that reminds us of the childhood classic Little Red Riding Hood. From a darkly humorous perspective, she brings to life a character that is bold, playful, and unexpected.
In the middle of the show, the audience is treated to a performance by the host, Miss Chrissy Kiss. She transitions from a red dress to a white, sparkly outfit. The performance is shaped through the use of oversized feather fans, skillfully playing with what is revealed and what remains hidden.
Next comes Katarina von Schatz, who appears in a more classical outfit, initially conveying a serious and composed character. As the performance progresses, it unfolds in a formal, slow, yet sensual way, revealing increasing layers of intimacy and control.
Lastly, with the introduction of a gift on stage, Affinity Starr appears. Similar to Titi de Sweetie, she wears a white performance costume, this time covered with a vast cape of white balloons. Through the bursting of the balloons, the performance takes shape as a gradual and playful revelation.
Overall, the show is a continuation of the traditional sensual and empowering style of burlesque, combined with the spirit of Christmas without making it the central theme. Instead, Christmas appears subtly through elements such as the musical introductions and the performers’ color palette, dominated by red and white.
