Forget the usual pub quiz. This time, the competition is all about pickles.

Liam Duffy brings two volunteers from the audience on stage for a series of increasingly ridiculous pickle-based challenges. It starts with a test of speed, followed by questions about pickles, before moving on to guessing the ingredients of a cocktail made with pickle brine.

And then comes the pickle Russian roulette.

The volunteers really make the show. Watching them try to figure out what they are tasting, answer questions and survive the various challenges brings a spontaneous energy to the room, while the audience gets to cheer them on, laugh at their successes and, occasionally, their misfortune.

The whole thing is wonderfully unusual and very light-hearted. There is no complicated story to follow or deep message to decipher. It is simply an hour of absurd challenges, audience interaction and a surprisingly serious amount of pickle.

Pickle Based Game Show: Crunchy, Briny and Chaotic is exactly what it sounds like: silly, interactive and a lot of fun. And the more people in the room, the more reactions, cheering and chaos there are to enjoy.

So bring your friends, volunteer someone brave, and get ready to open the jar. There are three more shows for this run, split between Heldeke! and IMPEERIUM Improteater, the 15-17 of September. The Tallinn Fringe Festival continues until 18 September.
