With temperatures dropping and autumn quietly settling over Tallinn, the urge to slow down, find somewhere cosy, and spend an evening listening to music feels increasingly appropriate. Add a few laughs, a drink at the bar, and some brutally honest songs about relationships, and you have Honest to a Fault.
Icelandic singer-songwriter Heather Ragnars brings her intimate piano-and-voice show to Heldeke!, blending heartbreak, sharp humour and songs that are perhaps a little too easy to relate to.
Yes, you might recognise yourself in a few of them 😅
Seated at the piano, Heather introduces each song with a short story, observation or piece of commentary, delivered with a wonderfully dry, sarcastic sense of humour. Then the talking stops and the music takes over.
Her compositions are genuinely beautiful, moving effortlessly between lively, playful moments and more tender, melancholic ones. There is a conversational quality to the songs, as though she has simply decided to sit down at the piano and tell you exactly what went wrong this time.

And her voice deserves its own mention. Rich, smoky and warm, with a vintage quality that suits the material perfectly, it has enough depth to make the more emotional moments land without ever becoming overly dramatic.
And somehow, Heather alone is enough to fill the stage. No band, no elaborate production, no distractions. Just her, her piano and a presence that keeps you watching.
Heldeke! is the perfect setting for this kind of evening. Its intimate theatre-bar atmosphere gives the performance a cosy, slightly old-school cabaret feeling, with a little touch of Parisian café-théâtre tucked away in Kalamaja.
Honest to a Fault is warm, funny and unexpectedly touching. It doesn’t take itself too seriously, even when things get real, always finding its way back to laughter. Her final performance of this run is Tuesday 1 September at 1900, but the Tallinn Fringe continues until 18 September with more music, comedy and other performances.
